Coming Soon – Obesity Prevention Kit
LearntobeHealthy.org is excited to announce the launch of a new obesity prevention e-Learning kit focusing on both physical activity and nutrition! Featuring a field day theme, the kit is scheduled to be released this summer and will include menu planning, case studies, food label analysis, body image collages, the FITT (frequency, intensity, time and type) principle, and more.

Dairy Council Activities
With childhood obesity rates on the rise, how can we work to improve the health of our youth? The USDA Food Guide Pyramid and 3-A-Day of Dairy nutrition education programs encourage 3 servings of dairy every day. The new Dairy Council activities found in the Fueling My Special Body e-Learning kit aim to increase dairy consumption, while students discover the benefits of dairy.

Teacher Spotlight
Matt Willey is an Elementary School teacher who incorporates both LearntobeHealthy.org and SMART Board activities into his 4th grade classroom. “ I love your site and so do my students! It really presents the information in a meaningful way that students enjoy!” Click here to read more about Mr. Willey’s classroom or check out his school’s website.

Featured Lesson Plan
The new food guide pyramid, called MyPyramid, is now made especially for you, and suggests finding a healthy balance between nutrition and physical activity! Explore MyPryamid in the Fueling My Special Body e-Learning kit. In activity #2, Food Pyramid Projection Challenge: The Guide to Healthy Eating, students determine where the food in the refrigerator belongs on the pyramid. This is a great activity to do with a SMART Board!

Helping Others
Incorporating both health and technology into the classroom is a challenge. As a member, you know that LearntobeHealthy.org makes this easy. Please forward this email via the Tell a Friend feature to other teachers, parents, or community members who can benefit from e-Learning.
